One more Suspected Anonymous Hacker Arrested by UK Police

British Police arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly carrying out cyber attacks in connection with hacker group Anonymous.

Peter David Gibson, a student from Hartlepool in the north of England, was charged with violations of the U.K.'s Criminal Law Act.

"Gibson was arrested by officers from the Met's Police Central e-Crime Unit in connection with an investigation into Anonymous, following allegations of DDOS attacks by the group against several companies," Scotland Yard said in a statement.

Specifically, Gibson was charged with conspiracy to do an unauthorized act in relation to a computer, with intent to: impair the operation of any computer; prevent or hinder access to any program or data held in a computer; or to impair the operation of any such program or the reliability of such data.

He is scheduled to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on September 7.

According to The Register, Gibson was questioned by officials in April and is one of six people arrested in connection with a probe into "Operation Avenge Assange." The other five men were arrested in January and charged with violations of the Computer Misuse Act.

In July, Scotland Yard arrested a hacker known as "Topiary" for his alleged involvement in the activities of Anonymous and LulzSec. Earlier that month, officials also arrested a 16-year-old boy for suspected violations of the Computer Misuse Act. He reportedly goes by the online name TFlow, which has links to the LulzSec collective.

That came about a month after London police arrested a 19-year-old man for several high-profile cyber attacks that could be connected to LulzSec. However, LulzSec said id it was only "mildly associated" with the man.
